Job Description
Project Healthy Minds is a mental health nonprofit that operates like a tech startup, focusing on creating a digital marketplace for mental health services. We work with an interdisciplinary team made up of influential leaders and experts to combat the mental health crisis in America.
We are seeking an experienced Copywriter (Contract) to develop empathetic and credible written content related to mental health education and services. This role involves producing articles for a general audience, particularly young adults and parents, effectively translating complex clinical concepts into relatable language. The Copywriter will collaborate closely with the Product Marketing & Operations Lead and other clinical partners in a hands-on writing capacity, supporting various editorial projects remotely on a contract basis.
Requirements
HOW YOU’LL DO
- Write clear, engaging articles on mental health topics and services.
- Translate clinically reviewed concepts into accessible language.
- Collaborate with clinical network for sourcing and fact-checking.
- Incorporate feedback from clinical reviewers to adhere to quality standards.
- Utilize SEO tools to optimize content for visibility.
- Support visual asset development with the Creative team.
- Revise content according to editorial feedback and performance insights.
HOW YOU’LL BRING
- Proven writing experience in mental health or healthcare topics for general audiences.
- Ability to explain complex topics with clarity and empathy.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
- Experience working with subject-matter experts and incorporating feedback.
- Familiarity with SEO practices and tools.
- Strong organizational skills and capability to manage deadlines independently.
- Comfort in a collaborative, feedback-driven environment.
NICE TO HAVES
- Familiarity with specific mental health topics (e.g., therapy, youth mental health).
- Writing experience for digital health, healthcare, or nonprofit sectors.
- Knowledge of content performance metrics and analytics.
- Experience collaborating with design or media teams.
- Background in journalism, communications, public health, psychology, or related fields.

Details: Up to ~20 hours per week; report to Product Marketing & Operations Lead with collaboration from the VP of Product. The hiring process includes application review, a paid writing assignment, and a follow-up interview.
Hourly rate: $25 - $35 based on experience.
