Job Description

The Professional ICT Level 1 Team Leader position is within the Application Development Department. This role is responsible for providing strategic technical direction and managing multiple technical teams responsible for the complete development lifecycle, including product features and support for core applications. The Team Leader will oversee ongoing initiatives to enhance efficiency, optimization, innovation, and professional development within these environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of web developers while providing guidance on technical issues.
• Design and develop front-end and back-end web architectures.
• Maintain and support existing web and mobile applications.
• Participate in the design and development of new systems throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist in defining and modifying/enhancing existing production software based on requirements.
• Develop new production software.
• Monitor progress against agreed-upon timelines and collaborate with the Project Manager.
• Liaise with internal departments or stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of software.
• Manage the planning process to derive delivery timelines.
• Communicate business expectations with the team and third parties throughout the SDLC.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards during all phases of the SDLC.
• Design, code, test, debug, and document application features and changes.
• Participate in activities ensuring successful use of systems.
• Design, develop, and implement development standards and architecture principles.
• Modify existing programs for software maintenance.
• Adopt and enhance software integration and API management.
• Monitor performance of web applications.
• Set tools and processes for monitoring uptime and performance against SLAs.
• Implement agreed security standards within the software solution.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Document enhancements and modifications performed during maintenance.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with key business and third parties.
• Empower development team members across traditional organizational boundaries.
• Manage changing people challenges such as fluidity of resources and remote working.
• Promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, and innovation.
• Foster a culture of flexibility and openness to change within the Software Development environment.
• Create a shared knowledge and expertise culture through teamwork.

Requirements

Experience Required for The Position:

• 6 – 10 years of relevant experience as a web and mobile development team leader.
• Experience leading and working in an Agile Development environment.
• Technical skills to support and guide a technical team in establishing priorities and managing deliverables.
• Strong customer-facing and technical resolution skills.
• Able to positively influence peers across the organization.
• Experience in all phases of systems development and implementation (SDLC phases).
• Solid project management and analysis skills.
• Team-oriented with a focus on customer service.
• Ability to influence using leadership skills in various areas.
• Proficiency in writing and maintaining documentation, instructions, and procedure guides.
• Experience working with customers to debug software and systems.
