Companion – Event Companion Platform

Companion is a platform that helps users find like-minded companions for events, outings, and travel. Combining a Tinder-style swipe discovery with robust trust and safety features, Companion enables users to post events, discover local happenings, and connect with others through an approval‑based system.

Current Status
An MVP has been built using React Native Web (with Vite) and a Node.js/Express backend powered by SQLite. Core functionality includes user onboarding, swipe feed, event creation, request/approval flows, one‑on‑one chat, and post‑event ratings.

Technology Stack
Frontend: React Native Web, TypeScript, Vite, React Navigation, Tailwind CSS
Backend: Node.js, Express, SQLite, JWT authentication
Tooling: ESLint, Prettier, Cypress/Playwright for E2E testing (planned)

What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an experienced full‑stack developer to:

Perform a comprehensive audit of the current codebase.
Fix existing bugs and UI/UX inconsistencies.
Implement remaining high‑priority features (event comment section with @mentions, direct messaging between attendees, post‑event reviews, improved navigation, and more).
Ensure a polished, production‑ready experience that aligns with the original design specifications.

The ideal candidate has strong expertise in React (Native Web), Node.js, and relational databases, with a keen eye for intuitive user flows and attention to detail. Familiarity with building social or marketplace platforms is a plus.
