Job Description

Churlish Media is seeking at least three video editors to meet the growing client demand. We produce cinematic content, direct-response ads, and authority-positioning videos for service-based businesses. The ideal candidate should be skilled in crafting videos that engage viewers, from short-form content to long-form brand stories.

Requirements

• Proficient in video editing software (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro)
• Strong understanding of pacing and timing in video editing
• Ability to interpret briefs and bring creative ideas
• Experience editing for brands or businesses (not personal projects)
• Ability to distinguish between talking-head and story-driven testimonials and edit accordingly
• Clear and professional communication skills
• Ability to receive and act on feedback constructively
• Bonus: Experience with After Effects, Photoshop, or CapCut for creating social content quickly

• Editors who miss deadlines without communication
• Those seeking only creative passion projects, not client work
• Editors who consider the job merely as making jump cuts with trending sounds
• Editors who do not deliver work according to agreed timelines

Work Structure

This position is structured as follows:

• 1099 Contractor (Ongoing) with consistent monthly volume and priority access to new projects
• Freelance / Per-Project for project-by-project assignments

Compensation

Compensation is based on scope, complexity, and experience level:

• Short-form edits: Per-piece rate
• Long-form edits (5-15 min): Per-project rate
• Ad creative packages: Bundled rate per campaign
• Monthly retainer (for ongoing roles): Flat monthly fee based on volume

Payment is on time, with a net 15 days from invoice submission.

Pay: $800.00 - $1,250.00 per month
