Job Description
The Daily Mail is seeking a brilliant hybrid video editor, ideally with an understanding of motion graphics, to help edit new longform shows and produce original series designed for YouTube. This person will work under the supervision of a showrunner to manage all post-production editing and animation needs. The Daily Mail shows team produces repeatable, identifiable formats that are 8-22 minutes in length. This is a new role on a new team tasked with developing original programming that viewers will fall in love with.
Key Responsibilities
- Help staff producers prep footage for original shows designed for YouTube
- Create rough cuts and full edits from start to finish
- Edit and enhance videos using industry-standard software, incorporating motion graphics and visual effects
- Ensure videos are delivered on time and meet high-quality standards
- Pitch episode ideas and continuously improve the quality of the show
- Prep projects for staff editors; handle media tasks such as stringing out media and syncing footage
- Analyze show performance using data to identify strengths and weaknesses
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in video production and motion design
- Organize and manage media assets, including logging and backing up footage
Required Skills and Qualities
- Portfolio showcasing experience in producing and editing videos for YouTube, preferably long-form
- Understanding of motion design principles and experience in creating motion graphics and visual effects
- A deep curiosity about YouTube as a platform and storytelling
- Experience with Frame.io
- Experience or interest in working on a set
- Knowledge of video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro
- Strong story sense and ability to assess pitches
- Clear communication skills for giving and receiving detailed feedback
- Willingness to embrace failure and pivot as necessary
- Deep understanding of principles of good journalism
