Short-Form Video Editor — Buyout Boy (Freelance, Part-Time)
Location: Remote-friendly, NYC strongly preferred

Commitment: 5–10 hours/week

Compensation: $60 per finished short-form video + $25/hour for graphics work (capped)

About Buyout Boy: A content platform focused on modern professional life from the perspective of someone in finance in NYC. The platform explores topics such as finance education, comedy, identity, lifestyle, fashion, fitness, dating, travel, and culture.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience editing short-form content (TikTok, Reels, Shorts); a portfolio link is required.
• Strong instincts on pacing, retention hooks, and text-on-screen rhythm.
• A visual and typographic eye — clean fonts, smart motion graphics, on-brand color choices.
• Comfort with both talking-head edits and lifestyle/B-roll edits.
• Reliable turnaround — ideally 24–48 hours per video after raw footage is uploaded.
• Clear, low-friction communicator (most communication will be asynchronous).

Bonus

• Canva proficiency for carousels and graphics work.
• Familiarity with finance, lifestyle, or LGBTQ+ creator content.
• An understanding of the editing style of creators like Mia McGrath, Mrs. Dow Jones, and others.

Application Process

• Apply through the provided form (resume + portfolio link required).
• Screening: Portfolio reviews within 7 days of application closure to shortlist candidates.
• $60 paid trial edit: Shortlisted candidates will edit a 45–60 second talking-head video within 3 days.
• Interview: Top 2–3 candidates will have a 30-minute video call and may be asked for a second paid edit.
• Offer: Candidates can expect an offer within ~3 weeks from job posting.

Additional Information

• This is a 1099 contractor role, not W-2 employment, and payments are made via Venmo, Zelle, or direct deposit.
• A short freelance agreement will be signed covering work-for-hire IP and confidentiality of raw footage.
• The role is structured for current students around their classes, with asynchronous communication and flexible editing hours.

Pay: $25.00 - $60.00 per hour
