YouTube Video Editor (Contractor) at Sugar Rim (Remote, Contract | 2 videos per month)

Sugar Rim is a boutique influencer marketing, UGC, and creator agency that partners with funded consumer brands. We are seeking a YouTube Video Editor to produce high-performing long-form content for brand partners. The role involves editing various video types, including explainer videos, product demos, and creator-led pieces. This contract position offers consistent project flow and opportunities for ongoing work.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

• Edit YouTube videos from raw footage to publish-ready cuts, including different video types.
• Create engaging hooks in the first 3-5 seconds to maintain viewer retention and enhance watch time.
• Design intro and outro animations that align with the brand identity.
• Incorporate captions, b-roll, sound effects, and pacing cues to engage viewers.
• Use motion graphics and light VFX to enhance storytelling elements.
• Color correct and grade footage in accordance with brand aesthetics.
• Edit and mix audio for clear dialogue and consistent levels.
• Deliver social cutdowns for YouTube Shorts as needed.
• Create eye-catching, brand-aligned thumbnails for videos.

What You Bring

Skills:

• Motion graphics and VFX
• Color correction and grading
• Audio editing and mixing
• Strong storytelling and pacing skills for retention-driven content

Software Proficiency:

• Adobe Premiere Pro (preferred)
• Adobe After Effects (preferred)
• Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve is also acceptable

Experience:

• Proven work on YouTube-style explainer videos and product demonstrations
• Familiarity with YouTube editing standards such as engaging hooks and dynamic b-roll
• A portfolio of published YouTube work (channel links or Frame.io reels welcome)

Nice to Have:

• Experience editing for DTC consumer brands, especially in tech/software
• Knowledge of YouTube best practices for retention and audience growth
• Instincts for thumbnail design (optional)
• Able to source music, SFX, and stock assets fitting a brand

Logistics

Job Type: 1099 contractor, Remote, Project-based with potential for ongoing retainer.

Pay: $300.00 per month
