Job Description
The Georgia Dept. of Transportation (GDOT) is seeking a technical GIS developer for configuring and developing custom Esri ArcGIS Enterprise applications. These applications will be deployed within SharePoint web sites and integrated with .NET based applications, GDOT databases, and enterprise reporting tools. The ideal candidate should have experience in application programming, development, implementation, and support.
- Design, code, test, modify and debug software and applications.
- Translate business requirements into development activities.
- Collaborate with IT team members and business units.
- Support over 180 ArcGIS Desktop users and handle approximately 60,000 annual ArcGIS Server web visits.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop customized web, mobile, and enterprise applications.
- Create geoprocessing and GIS web services.
- Conduct performance, unit, system, integration, and quality assurance testing.
- Maintain and upgrade existing applications/services.
- Implement controls to ensure system/data security.
- Document GIS solutions and provide required artifacts.
- Collaborate with other developers and engage in troubleshooting.
- Automate data processing through ETL scripts.
- Ensure alignment with standards/guidelines and mentor GIS staff.
Work Terms and Conditions
- Fixed work schedule of 8 hours, Monday - Friday.
- Preference for local candidates who can work a hybrid schedule (remote/in-office).
- Must adhere to State of Georgia and GDOT policies and guidelines.
- Consultant must have suitable internet for remote work and will be reimbursed for authorized travel expenses.
- Consultants are not allowed to work during designated holidays or take extended leave during their first year.
- Consultants must have a cell phone for business calls.
- All commuting expenses are the responsibility of the consultant.
Requirements
- 4 years of programming/application development experience (Required).
- 4 years of PL/SQL, SQL experience (Required).
- 4 years of Python Scripting or ArcPy experience (Required).
- 3 years of Esri ArcGIS Server services development (Required).
- 3 years of experience with ArcGIS Online/Enterprise Server (Required).
- 3 years of experience with Esri Web/Experience Builder (Required).
- 2 years of experience with Desktop GIS (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap) (Required).
- Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), Git, Angular or React (Required).
- Bachelor’s degree in geography, GIS, computer science, or related field (Required).
- Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly (Required).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills (Required).
- Knowledge of geospatial concepts (Required).
- Knowledge of IT security concepts within Esri technology (Required).
- Experience with ArcGIS Apps (Field Maps, Navigator, etc.) (Required).
- Esri Javascript SDK proficiency (Highly desired).
- Experience with Esri Geoevent Server/Velocity (Highly desired).
- Geodatabase Administration experience (Highly desired).
- Experience with Esri Roads and Highways (Highly desired).
Additional Information
The position end date is set for the GDOT Fiscal Year, with possibilities for renewal. GDOT may exercise the option for contract extensions but is not obligated to do so. When working remotely, consultants need to ensure they have a suitable setup to comply with GDOT guidelines. GDOT provides reimbursement for authorized travel expenses while many routine costs are the responsibility of the consultant.
