Job Description

The Government of Alberta’s Digital Design & Delivery (3D) Division is seeking experienced Full Stack Developers to support digital transformation initiatives across multiple government ministries. Developers will work within Agile, cross-functional teams to design, build, modernize, and support citizen-facing digital services using modern development frameworks and human-centered design principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain modern full-stack applications.
  • Participate in discovery sessions, technical research, and solution design.
  • Develop scalable frontend and backend solutions.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, UX Designers, Architects, and Developers.
  • Build reusable components and shared services.
  • Resolve functional and non-functional defects.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Produce technical documentation and architecture artifacts.
  • Support solution deployment and production releases.
  • Contribute to CI/CD practices and software quality improvements.
  • Help modernize legacy applications into digital services.
  • Mentor team members and support knowledge transfer.

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years experience as a Full Stack Developer in Agile environments.
  • 5+ years experience using Git/source control.
  • 3+ years experience with automated unit and integration testing.
  • 3+ years experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • 3+ years experience developing production applications using modern application frameworks and JavaScript frontend frameworks.

Contract Information

  • Initial Term: 1 Year
  • Extension: Up to 24 months
  • Start Date: Staggered between July and August 2026
  • Hours: 36.25 hours/week (7.25 hours/day)

Location

  • Primarily Remote (Canada)
  • Occasional onsite meetings/work sessions in Edmonton, Alberta
  • Some travel within Alberta may be required
  • Work must be performed within Canada

Security Requirements

  • Criminal Record Check (if requested)
  • Enhanced Security Clearance (Justice projects)
  • Potential eligibility for RCMP Top Secret Clearance
