Software Developer (Brazil) - AI-Personalized Yoga Platform

Software Engineer is needed in Brazil.

I’m looking for a software developer based in Brazil to join our team and help build the first version of a personalized yoga web platform. The product will create wellness plans that take into account the user’s age, relevant physical and health conditions, lifestyle, goals, experience, and movement limitations, adapting these plans over time based on progress and feedback.

There’s already a development team in place, so you’ll work collaboratively on an evolving product. You’ll contribute directly with code and will also be able to bring ideas about product decisions, user experience, localization, and how the platform should work for Brazilian users.

We’re also very open to early-career talent and junior developers. You don’t need to be senior to apply. If you have a solid technical foundation, learn quickly, and want to contribute with creativity, dedication, and consistent effort, we want to hear from you.

MVP Scope

User registration, secure authentication, and profile management.
Mandatory onboarding questionnaire covering age, goals, lifestyle, experience, relevant physical/health conditions, pain or discomfort, and movement limitations.
Structured database of yoga poses and exercises.
Safety rules engine capable of excluding or modifying exercises based on the user’s profile.
Generation of personalized plans combining deterministic rules/algorithms with OpenAI or another appropriate LLM.
Daily session experience with instructions, duration/repetitions, and visual content.
Tracking of completion, duration, difficulty, discomfort, and user notes.
Periodic or weekly progress review and automatic plan adjustment.
Basic progress dashboard and admin panel.
Responsive interface for mobile/desktop, deployment, monitoring, backups, and appropriate security practices.

AI and Safety Approach
We don’t want an app that simply sends all of the user’s information to ChatGPT and displays the response. The system should combine a validated yoga knowledge base and deterministic safety rules with AI for personalization, explanation, and adaptation. Safety rules must take priority over the model’s output. The platform is a wellness product and should not present itself as a medical diagnosis or treatment service.

Useful Technical Knowledge

Some hands-on web development experience through professional work, internships, freelancing, open source, academic projects, or solid personal projects.
Familiarity with React / Next.js and JavaScript or TypeScript.
Basic knowledge of backend development, APIs, and SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
Interest in or experience with OpenAI or other AI/LLM APIs/models is a plus, but not required.
Familiarity with Git / GitHub and collaborative development workflows.
Exposure to AWS, Supabase, Vercel, authentication, storage, analytics, or monitoring is helpful, but not required.

Fluent or native Brazilian Portuguese.
Professional English. You must be able to converse in English with the team about requirements, technical decisions, progress, and issues.

Work Model and Budget

100% remote.
Freelancer / independent contractor.
Candidates located in Brazil.
Desired starting rate: around USD $20/hour, negotiable based on experience and proposal.
Estimated MVP timeline: approximately 10-12 weeks, subject to final scope and technical proposal.
Possibility of recurring, long-term collaboration after the MVP.
