2D Character Designer + Spine Animator for a Cozy Family Party Game (Flat Vector, Super Simple Songs...
I’m building Baby Jackbox, a party game for toddlers, children, and adults to play together on TV using phones as controllers. The first game is Freeze Dance, where player avatars dance and freeze into statue poses. I need an original 2D character designer and Spine animator to create a warm, flat-vector visual style with rounded shapes, simple facial features, clear silhouettes, and TV-friendly readability, inspired by the general accessibility of children’s games without copying existing characters.
The work includes a rigged DJ/host character, eight distinct animal player avatars as skins on a shared Spine skeleton, shared loopable and blendable animations, freeze poses, and 12 movement icons. Deliverables must include Spine 4.2 project and export files, texture atlases, PNGs, and layered source art for use in Godot 4.6. This begins with a paid style test, followed by fixed-price milestones. All assets must be original, non-AI-generated, work-for-hire, with full rights transferred.
Budget range:
$750–$1,500 USD
Examples:
Dance And Stop (Super Simple Songs) — https://supersimple.com/song/dance-and-stop/ — this is essentially our first game: dancing animals that freeze. Watch how a freeze pose reads instantly at small size.
The Animals On The Farm (Super Simple Songs) — — eight-ish animals in one style with distinct silhouettes; that’s exactly the problem our roster solves.
Sago Mini — https://sagomini.com/ — same shape language applied to a game/app UI; note the chunky, tap-friendly buttons.
Toca Boca — https://tocaboca.com/ — a bit more detailed than we want, but the right level of squash-and-stretch and “no stress” charm.
Spine “Mix and Match” example — https://en.esotericsoftware.com/spine-examples-mix-and-match — and the Spine demos page https://en.esotericsoftware.com/spine-demos — shows the technical approach we need: one skeleton, many skins (our 8 animals share one rig).
