Silent Oasis - Live Event Documentation

Filmmaker is needed in Houston, United States.

We need a freelance convention filmmaker to document the Silent Oasis live experience in Houston on October 3–4, 2026. Silent Oasis brings together Silent Hill fan community artists, cosplayers, creators and fans through live painting, performances, merchandise creation and audience interaction. The role is on-site for approximately three hours each day and may lead to further convention work.

Capture consistent, unobtrusive coverage of the convention, Silent Oasis setup, creators at work, artwork details, fan interactions, natural reactions, interactions with Guy, and finished work. Record primarily short, steady vertical 9:16 clips for social media, plus selected horizontal footage. This is a documentation role rather than an editing role; at the end of each day, organize and clearly label all original footage for transfer to the remote editor.

Silent Oasis is a live experience at gamer conventions. We offer: 1) live paintings by young artists selected from the community of Silent Hill fans. These live paintings are sold as well as framed reprints, and 2) cosplayers from the community who inspire and enable selfies and or create merchandise live for convention visitors to purchase.

About the client
I’m Guy Cihi, the original voice and motion-capture actor for James Sunderland in Silent Hill 2. When I began appearing at conventions, I was invited to sit behind a table, sign autographs, and collect money. I quickly realized I wanted to do something more meaningful with the opportunity. So I created Silent Oasis—an evolving convention experience where fans aren’t simply customers waiting in line. Artists, cosplayers, creators and other members of the Silent Hill community become part of the experience, creating and performing alongside me while fans interact and participate. Each city produces something different. The filmmaker’s job is to capture that experience as it happens—the creators, the fans, the atmosphere, the unexpected moments, and the sense of community—then deliver the footage to our dedicated editor, who knows the Silent Hill community intimately.
