Job Description

Teach For America’s Florida Regions is seeking a temporary, part-time Storytelling and Social Media professional to source, create, manage, and publish engaging content across external communications and social media channels.

The role will support storytelling, online community engagement, audience growth, content curation, social care, communications campaigns, and forward-thinking projects across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The position will work closely with the External Affairs and Marketing and Communications team, program staff, corps members, alumni, coaches, and other stakeholders to identify and share stories that advance educational equity.

Social Media Content Curation and Management — 70%

  • Create and publish daily and weekly content across Florida’s social media channels.
  • Manage the social media editorial and communications calendars, including monthly themes, campaigns, and content ideas.
  • Monitor and respond to social media messages within 24 hours, following brand guidelines.
  • Engage online audiences and support community growth and retention.
  • Use Sprout Social to schedule, format, and manage content.
  • Develop focused content for media and legislative audiences across three Twitter accounts.
  • Source stories by engaging with corps members, alumni, coaches, staff, and community partners.
  • Conduct interviews and take or source photos, videos, and other visual assets.
  • Monitor social media trends, emerging platforms, audience engagement, and the effectiveness of key messages.

Social Media Data Analysis — 15%

  • Produce bi-weekly reports on community sentiment, content performance, and notable trends.
  • Analyze engagement among alumni, corps members, community partners, donors, and other audiences.
  • Help establish shared metrics for measuring social media engagement.
  • Provide insights to inform content strategy and statewide communications planning.

Other Responsibilities — 15%

  • Report on social media campaigns during team meetings.
  • Collaborate statewide to develop content ideas aligned with monthly campaigns and themes.
  • Prepare reports for management and broader teams.
  • Coordinate with sub-teams to identify announcements and stories for social media.
  • Update regional websites with new information, including staff and board changes.
  • Serve as a point of contact for regional and national communications teams.
  • Assist with local media communications and communications or design support for projects and events.
  • Keep staff informed about significant communications opportunities and stories for external audiences.

Requirements

  • At least four years of experience developing social media content; experience with social publishing and reporting tools is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, spelling, grammar, tone, and voice skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong team orientation and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, flexibly, and proactively.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • High level of discretion, judgment, personal responsibility, and responsiveness.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and take creative, strategic action.
  • Active and proficient use of social media platforms, with an interest in evolving platform trends.
  • Ability to create compelling stories using written content, photographs, videos, and graphics.

  • Experience in brand management and communications is preferred.
  • Experience with design platforms such as Canva is preferred.

Additional Information

Position Details

  • Role: Temporary Storytelling and Social Media
  • Schedule: Approximately 10 hours per week, with possible additional hours during peak periods
  • Dates: January 2 through May 2, 2027
  • Hourly rate: $20 per hour
  • Location: Florida; flexible
  • Team: Statewide Florida Regions
  • Reports to: Managing Director, Government and Public Relations
  • Priority application deadline: October 6, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.; applications received afterward will be reviewed on a rolling basis

Hiring Process

Applications will be reviewed by the TFA Florida Regions Director of Communications and Marketing and other team leaders. Selected candidates may be invited to interview and submit work samples. An additional interview and reference check may be required. Teach For America aims to complete the hiring process within approximately six weeks.
