Job Description

Vox Media is seeking an Assistant Video Editor to join the branded content post-production team supporting Vox and New York Magazine. This entry-level editing role focuses on turnkey, templated, and quick-turn social content, with opportunities to develop skills on larger projects under the guidance of senior editors, Creative Directors, and the Post-Production Supervisor.

The role will involve:

• Editing cutdowns, recaps, and repeatable social formats for digital platforms.
• Creating quick-turn social edits that follow established templates and house style.
• Adding basic music, sound design, color adjustments, and LUTs to templated content.
• Setting up and organizing projects for freelance and external editors, including bins, sequences, file structures, footage, dailies, and assets.
• Creating stringouts and supporting project handoffs, finishing, wrap-out, and archiving.
• Working in Adobe Premiere, including Team Projects and Productions, in accordance with internal workflows.
• Supporting color and sound turnovers on larger projects.
• Sharing cuts through Frame.io, incorporating feedback, and maintaining clear communication with producers, editors, and external partners.

Requirements

• Two to three years of editing experience in a digital, social, or branded content environment.
• Experience working quickly and accurately with templated and repeatable editing formats.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere; familiarity with Team Projects and Productions is a plus.
• Knowledge of technical specifications for distributing content across digital platforms.
• Strong organizational and file-management skills, including project setup and asset preparation.
• Familiarity with Frame.io or similar review and delivery platforms.
• Ability to work independently on quick-turn edits while taking direction on larger and more complex projects.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and willingness to learn and collaborate with senior editors and external partners.

Location and Work Arrangement

This position is based in Vox Media’s New York City office and follows a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days working remotely each week.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $70,000–$80,000 USD. The final offer will depend on factors including the candidate’s skills and experience.
