Job Description

Saltshine Creative is seeking a talented freelance Video Editor to create social media Reels and short-form videos for a range of client brands. The agency provides footage, creative direction, and brand guidelines; the editor will bring concepts to life through thoughtful editing, text overlays, music, transitions, and sound design.

This independent contractor role offers recurring monthly projects, with potential for additional work as the agency and client roster grow. The role is remote or hybrid remote and is limited to candidates currently based in Hawaii.

The ideal candidate has a strong creative eye, understands social media trends, and can adapt their editing style to suit clients across the hospitality, restaurant, jewelry, consumer packaged goods, medical, lifestyle, beauty, wellness, food, and product industries.

Key responsibilities include:

• Editing short-form videos and Reels using footage provided by Saltshine Creative.
• Adding on-screen text, transitions, music, sound effects, and intentional sound design.
• Creating polished, engaging content optimized for Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
• Following creative briefs, client brand guidelines, and feedback.
• Staying current with social media trends, editing techniques, audio trends, and platform best practices.
• Organizing project files and maintaining an efficient editing workflow.
• Completing revisions promptly and incorporating feedback collaboratively.
• Managing multiple client projects while meeting deadlines.
• Communicating clearly and professionally with the Saltshine Creative team.
• Responding to emails, messages, and project updates in a timely manner.
• Proactively communicating questions, delays, or challenges that may affect deadlines.
• Maintaining client confidentiality and handling creative assets responsibly.

Requirements

• Proven experience editing social media Reels, TikToks, or other short-form video content.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating creative, trend-forward video editing.
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or comparable editing software.
• Strong understanding of pacing, storytelling, text placement, music selection, and sound design.
• Excellent attention to detail and visual consistency.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of client brands and aesthetics.
• Strong time-management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently, follow direction, and manage multiple deadlines.
• Clear, reliable, and professional communication skills.
• Receptiveness to feedback and comfort completing revisions.
• Current residence in Hawaii.
• At least two years of video editing experience preferred.
• Ability to commute to Honolulu, Hawaii 96815, required.

Experience working with a creative agency, managing multiple brands, or editing content for hospitality, lifestyle, beauty, wellness, food, or product-based businesses is a plus.

Compensation
