Pianist, composer, and painter Ruizhi-Gabrielle is a Chinese-French artist who performs regularly across Europe, Asia, and the United States. With strong background of music production and conducting, she serves as Adjunct Faculty in New York University, she is highly regarded by her students, for whom she organizes frequent performances and workshops , including a 2025 student recital at Steinway Hall. Her teaching is defined by an interdisciplinary approach, drawing constant parallels between music and the visual and literary arts.
Following a recent solo recital in April, her upcoming season features a performance of works by Dutilleux and Debussy in Paris this July. In June, she will perform concerts followed by an exceptional tribute to French music. This program—featuring works by Poulenc, Louis Vierne, Chausson Trio, and Duruflé, as well as solo pieces by Marguerite Canal —will be presented at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York and the Eslite Performance Hall in Taipei. In September 2026, she will present a recital dedicated entirely to female composers, highlighting the works of Marguerite Canal and Fanny Mendelssohn. She will also collaborate with artist Soraya Sharghi to perform works by Debussy and Scriabin alongside her own original compositions honoring victims of war.
Her musical and artistic journey began at age five, exploring piano, clarinet, and fine arts. She is currently pursuing a dual Master’s and AC in Piano Performance and Pedagogy under the tutelage of the distinguished pianist Eteri Andjaparidze. She has studied internationally renowned pedagogues, including Christophe Bukudjian in CRR de Paris and Marie-Catherine Girod at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. In 2024, she earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, studying piano with Alexander Braginsky and conducting with Jerry Luckhardt and Betsy McCann, graduating on the Dean’s Honor List.
A laureate of numerous international competitions, her distinctions include the Brescia Concerto Competition (Italy), the Euregio Piano International Competition (2018), and the King’s Peak International Competition (2021). In 2022, she was a Gold Prize nominee for the London Young Musician Awards. More recently, she was awarded the Gold Prize at the Virtuoso International Music Awards in London (2023), the Euterpe Music Awards (2023), and Third Prize at the Paul Badura-Skoda International Piano Competition in Vienna (2023). She also received First Prize at the New York International Music Competition (alongside the U.S. State Senator’s Award), the Marvin O. Mechelke II Competition (carrying a $6,000 prize), and the Prima Prize at the 25th LAMS Matera.
