    uniE621 🎸 Cartoon Portrait – Guitarist’s Gift Illustration
Client: Commissioned by Client as a Gift Category: Cartoon Portrait Inspirational Artwork 📝 Project Overview This custom cartoon portrait was commissioned as a gift from a client to her partner — a passionate guitarist who plays only privately. These stylized portraits are popular for birthdays, anniversaries, or milestone celebrations and can be printed on wall art, t-shirts, mugs, or digital cards. 💭 The Challenge The client wanted to give a gift that went beyond a likeness — something that celebrated his creativity and passion for music. Even though he didn’t perform publicly, she wanted to show him what she saw in him: a talented, expressive musician with the potential to shine. 🎨 My Role & Solution My role went beyond drawing — I asked questions about who he was, what he loved, and what she hoped he’d feel when receiving the gift. I then illustrated him mid-performance, on stage, guitar in hand, immersed in music and surrounded by an appreciative audience. The scene wasn’t literal — it was aspirational. My goal was to help him visualize a version of himself that he might not fully believe in yet, but deserved to see. 🏆 Results & Outcomes The client was thrilled with the final artwork — and her partner loved it so much he hung it on his wall. The piece continues to be a reminder of his gifts and a playful nudge toward embracing his creativity more fully. 💡 Why It Matters These portraits blend art with encouragement. I use illustration to uplift, to help people see their own strength and joy reflected back at them — sometimes even before they fully own it. It’s part of my broader mission: to make art that inspires self-belief, creativity, and positive transformation. illustrator
uniE621 ❄️ Frozen Globes – Award Illustration & Lettering for Up Here Business
Client: Up Here Business Magazine Category: Event Branding Illustrated Lettering 📝 Project Overview “Frozen Globes” was commissioned by Up Here Business, a publication spotlighting innovation and leadership in Canada’s North. The goal was to create a dramatic, illustrated image to promote their new awards event — one that would echo the prestige of the Golden Globes while visually grounding it in the Arctic North. 🌌 The Challenge The brief called for an image that would feel iconic and celebratory, with hand-crafted elements to make the awards feel unique to the region. I proposed a high-concept scene: a glowing, icy globe perched atop a glacier, lit from within like a beacon — with bold illustrated lettering made from glacial shards calving into the frigid water below. 🎨 My Role & Solution I designed the image to feel cinematic: a nighttime scene framed by aurora-like light waves that form the script lettering “First Annual.” The centerpiece is the “frozen globe” itself — modeled after award statuettes but crafted in translucent ice, with Northern Canada illuminated. The typography was hand-illustrated directly into the landscape, as fractured glacier chunks spelling out Frozen Globes. I used Photoshop to enhance the glow, add subtle reflections and water ripples, and tie the elements into a cohesive, immersive composition. 🏆 Results & Outcomes The illustration was enthusiastically received by the editorial and event teams, and became the signature visual for the Frozen Globes campaign — setting the tone for the awards’ identity in their inaugural year. 💡 Why It Matters This piece showcases a unique skill set I offer: illustrated lettering — the ability to integrate type and image in a way that enhances both. Whether for comics, event branding, or editorial features, it creates an immersive, storytelling-driven message that feels handcrafted and unforgettable. logo graphicdesigner designer illustrator
uniE621 🦸 SuperGiants – Editorial Illustration for Up Here Business Magazine
Client: Up Here Magazine Category: Editorial Illustration Magazine Feature 📝 Project Overview “SuperGiants” was a featured illustration for Up Here Business, an award-winning magazine focused on the culture, business, and landscape of Canada’s North. The piece visualizes the discovery of three massive underground mineral deposits — including rare earth elements, iron ore, and a mysterious third deposit — using the visual language of comic book superheroes. ⛰ The Challenge The story centered around three monumental finds beneath Canada’s northern wilderness, but the original brief proposed a single transformer-style character built from cell phones — a metaphor that felt a bit too on-the-nose. I saw an opportunity to elevate the concept into a striking visual metaphor: What if each deposit was a giant character in its own right, emerging from the land like a team of elemental titans? 🎨 My Role & Solution As editorial illustrator, I pitched a bold new concept — reimagining the three deposits as towering, comic-style “SuperGiants,” each with their own identity. I drew each figure by hand in ink, then added color, lighting, and energy effects digitally in Photoshop. The final composition mimics a dramatic comic book cover, stretching across a page-and-a-half magazine spread. The treatment infused the story with energy and personality while preserving clarity and relevance to the article’s core themes. 🏆 Results & Outcomes The client was “blown away” by the final artwork, which became a highlight of the issue and helped the story land with visual impact. It stood out in print, attracting readers’ attention and giving a sense of grandeur to a story about geological potential. 💡 Why It Matters This piece is a perfect example of how I turn abstract or technical content into visually exciting stories that inform and entertain. It reflects my strength in metaphor, character design, and blending traditional hand-drawn techniques with digital polish — especially in editorial and educational storytelling contexts. illustrator comics digitalart
    uniE621 ⚔️ Legionnaire Logo – Men’s Group Identity
Client: Private Men’s Leadership Organization Category: Logo Design Cultural Branding 📝 Project Overview This bold, two-color logo was created to represent a men’s organization focused on healthy masculinity, leadership, and personal growth. The image features a Roman legionnaire mid-leap, wielding a flaming sword — designed to evoke strength, discipline, and inspired action. 💡 The Challenge The group’s leader approached me with a clear vision: create a strong masculine emblem that could inspire its members and symbolize the values of courage, integrity, and growth. The challenge was to turn a cinematic reference into a striking, reproduction-ready logo that would resonate on banners, t-shirts, and printed materials — across sizes and formats. 🎨 My Role & Solution I began by reinterpreting a movie still of a legionnaire, refining it into a clean, high-impact logo with bold shapes and negative space. The final design uses only black, red, and white — ensuring strong contrast and adaptability across uses. One key element is the sword: rendered entirely in negative space, its form is defined by a burst of red flames, creating a sense of energy and transformation. I also researched and selected a typeface that matched the historic and cultural tone of the image. My role combined illustration, logo design, and visual storytelling to unify the group’s identity in a single, memorable symbol. 🏆 Results & Outcomes The logo became the official identity for the group and was used widely for several years. It helped strengthen the sense of belonging and pride among members. The only reason it was retired was due to a later name change and rebranding initiative. 🔥 Why It Matters This project reflects my ability to craft meaningful symbols that go beyond decoration — anchoring culture, values, and identity. It’s a great example of how I help organizations express deeper truths through strategic, emotionally resonant visuals. graphicdesigner logo illustrator branding designer
uniE621 Intertek Catalyst, Whole Foods: Skip The Scam Poster
Client: Whole Foods Market (via Intertek Catalyst) Category: Retail Staff Training | Internal Communication Poster Award: Communicator Awards – Winner 📝 Project Overview This poster was created for Whole Foods to help retail employees recognize and avoid scam attempts targeting stores. The image served as part of an internal awareness campaign distributed across locations. 🚨 The Challenge Whole Foods had been receiving scam phone calls — with fraudsters impersonating vendors, IT support, or corporate staff in order to steal gift cards, credit card data, or sensitive company information. The challenge was to make employees more aware of these tactics in a visually memorable way, while reinforcing a simple behavior: Don’t give away sensitive information. 🎨 My Role & Solution Working in collaboration with the training design firm Intertek Catalyst, I created a narrative poster using an octopus as a metaphor for the scammer — a creature with many “arms” representing different fraudulent tactics. The composition used a split-screen: one side showed the scheming octopus mid-call, with tentacles holding symbolic scam tools; the other side showed a wary employee reacting to the call, clearly distrustful. One tentacle reached across the screen divide, attempting to pick the employee’s pocket — subtly visualizing how scams often cross boundaries and catch people off-guard. I used expression, lighting, and color shifts to heighten the emotional tone and make the image instantly readable. 🏆 Results & Outcomes The poster was very well received by both the client and the studio team. It was submitted to the Communicator Awards and won — a testament to the impact of combining education with visual storytelling. 💡 Why It Matters This project shows how metaphor, composition, and storytelling can make dry or routine safety messages more engaging and memorable. My role extended beyond illustration — interpreting the communication need and delivering a visual that employees could understand and remember at a glance. illustrator branding engagement storydeveloper
