During my studies, I have developed a strong foundation in backend and full-stack development through various academic and personal projects. In my capstone project, my team and I built an Enrolment and Availability Tracker using React, JavaScript, Node.js, Express.js, and PostgreSQL, containerised with Docker. I was responsible for both the front-end unit management interface and the backend API endpoints, ensuring smooth communication between the client and server. This experience strengthened my skills in Full-Stack Development, API design, and deploying applications consistently across environments. One of my most rewarding personal projects was developing a Recipe Recommender web application using Remix, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and Vercel’s AI-SDK, integrating with GPT-4.1-mini via a custom API route. The idea for this project came from a personal challenge. After moving in with my partner this year, we often struggled with the daily question of “What should we eat?”. To solve this, I designed an application that can extract ingredients from a photo uploaded by the user and provide recipe suggestions based on the extracted ingredients. This experience not only showcased my technical skills in API integration, UI design, and deployment, but also highlighted my ability to identify real-world problems and build practical, innovative solutions. During my internship at Sustech Engineering, I worked in a team to convert manual Excel and Word forms into web-based applications using PHP, Laravel, and PhpMyAdmin. I designed intuitive UIs with proper validation, created endpoints to store user data, and wrote technical documentation to support the system design. This experience strengthened my full stack development, database management, and validation skills while helping me understand how software can streamline processes and reduce human error.
