A creator of rich, orchestral landscapes and intricate textures, Joshua Carter engages in a diverse musical life as composer, arranger and pianist. Composition and scoring works include the score to the PBS documentary “By One Vote: Woman Suffrage in the South,” arrangements and original music for National Geographic’s “Symphony for Our World” international tour, commercials for the Whisker company's Litter Robot, multiple short films, was assistant composer on the full length feature, The Mystery of Emma Thorn, and chamber orchestra arrangements for Ben Folds. As pianist, Joshua has toured with country artists from Chris Young to JoDee Messina and has served as a staff pianist for the Nashville Ballet for over ten years. In May of 2023, the Nashville Ballet commissioned and premiered a new work entitled, Nostalgia, with music by Joshua Carter, and choreography by Julia Eisen. Additionally, Joshua has been part of the musical support team for Ben Folds for 12 years.
