LiveTake - Rosie Weston live band recording

LiveTake is a project led by London-based actor and musician Edward Watchman for creating actor-musician performance showcases. For me, community is at the heart of the project; Ed pulled together an ensemble that felt immediately welcoming. Each musician’s strengths had a place in the arrangement and performance of the music. I joined as the recording and mixing engineer, aiming to capture that “in the room” feeling of watching a live band, while giving each song fullness and bringing the vocals to the forefront of the mix.

The film above features the piano and vocals of Rosie Weston, who arranged this gorgeous cover of Arctic Monkeys’ “Do I Wanna Know?” Rosie is an incredibly talented vocalist, pianist, dancer, actor, and composer who joined LiveTake as musical director. I love how she reimagines this dark, brooding rock song into a lush, elegant performance packed with clever reharmonisations of the original.

Joining Rosie are Eddy Watchman on bass, Clara Coslett and Miriam Aspden on violin and backing vocals, and Jack Ward on saxophone and backing vocals. Throughout the day, each musician took the spotlight for their song of choice. The rest of the ensemble rotated between various instruments.

The level of musicianship deeply inspired me as a musician, while the constantly shifting ensemble posed several technical challenges that encouraged me to think on my feet as a recording engineer. It was a valuable lesson in managing audio bleed and creating as wide a soundscape as possible with minimal microphones.

    Latitude 40 Podcast
Latitude 40 is a podcast exploring The Islander Way—a community-led regenerative tourism initiative on Flinders Island, Australia. In the first episode, hosts Debbie Clarke and Josie Major interview project lead Dr Dianne Dredge. The conversation explores the story behind the project and its innovative, emergent approach to tourism—one that centres community values, supports a resilient local economy, and cares for the island’s natural environment. As the audio producer for Latitude 40, I handled dialogue editing, added theme music, and mixed and mastered the production. Working with remote interviews recorded over unstable internet connections on Flinders Island, I used audio repair techniques to restore the recordings. Despite the technical challenges, I delivered a polished final product that connects the island with a wider audience and acts as a platform for local voices to foster a deepened sense of place and a shared vision for regenerative tourism.
    Good Awaits Podcast
Hosted by regenerative practitioners Debbie Clarke and Josie Major, GOOD Awaits features thoughtful, inspiring conversations with those reimagining the future of tourism in Aotearoa New Zealand. In this episode, Debbie and Josie explore the deep connections between the tourism and food systems in Aotearoa, highlighting how regenerative practices can support both communities and ecosystems. As the audio producer for the GOOD Awaits podcast, I supported the hosts with microphone selection, coached them on recording with Digital Audio Workstations, and offered guidance throughout the recording and editing process. I also mixed and mastered each episode for distribution on major streaming platforms. One of the key challenges was managing varied guest audio quality and recording environments. I ensured the final product consistently delivered a clear, professional sound that helped connect with a wider audience and amplify the voices of regenerative pioneers.
