I’m Caiden Merklin, a Computing Science student at Simon Fraser University specializing in Software Systems with hands-on experience in full-stack and backend development. I’ve spent the last few years building and maintaining software across industries, from EHS automation tools and enterprise dashboards at Group20 Consulting to data integration pipelines and QA automation at West Fraser Corporate. I enjoy solving practical problems with clean, testable code and thrive in projects that combine software engineering, testing, and automation. My toolkit includes Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, React, FastAPI, .NET, SQL, and Docker, with a strong focus on CI/CD pipelines, RESTful APIs, and cloud integration. Outside of work, I build independent projects like VocaFree, an AI-powered karaoke app using FastAPI, PyTorch, and TensorFlow, and contribute to the SFU Robot Soccer Club, where I work on simulation and firmware development in C++. I’m currently open to part-time or freelance opportunities where I can contribute to maintainable codebases, assist with feature development or test automation, and continue learning from experienced teams.
