I’m a Bachelor of Design graduate from Victoria University of Wellington, specialising in Animation with a minor in Communication Design. As an emerging creative, I’m passionate about storytelling through visual media—particularly 2D animation, illustration, and design that connects with people in meaningful ways.
Alongside my creative practice, I bring over two years of tutoring experience, where I’ve supported students from diverse backgrounds in developing their skills and confidence. This has strengthened my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, give thoughtful feedback, and collaborate with empathy—qualities I carry into both creative and team environments.
I also have over six years of experience in hospitality and retail, which has shaped my work ethic, adaptability, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced settings. Balancing work, study, and volunteering while maintaining strong academic performance—and receiving multiple scholarships—has taught me resilience, time management, and commitment.
Technically, I work across tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator), Procreate, and Blender, and I have a strong foundation in both digital and traditional art practices, including painting, drawing, and mixed media.
Fluent in English and Mandarin, with conversational Spanish, Cantonese, and Hakka, I enjoy working in diverse and collaborative environments.
I’m currently seeking opportunities in the creative industry—whether in animation, design, or related fields—where I can continue to grow as an artist, contribute to meaningful projects, and bring thoughtful, engaging ideas to life.

I currently manage and develop a collaborative art project on Instagram, working with artists to create and share original content. This project involves coordinating creative contributions, maintaining a consistent visual and narrative direction through editing, and engaging with an online audience.
Through this work, I’ve gained hands-on experience in social media strategy, content planning, and creative direction, while also strengthening my collaboration and communication skills within a creative community.

Rocktopus is a satirical stop motion animation that combines humour, character-driven storytelling, and contemporary cultural references. The film follows an octopus with a human-like head whose playful, dog-like personality contrasts with the pressures of a mundane, work-driven environment, leading to a comedic breaking point.
I independently led the project, including concept development, animation, and the design and fabrication of sets and props using cardboard, paper, and clay. The main character model was 3D printed by another artist and integrated into the physical set.
Blending tactile materials with expressive animation, the project explores themes of burnout and modern work culture through absurd, meme-inspired humour, while demonstrating my ability to manage an end-to-end stop motion production.
For this independent stop-motion project, titled “How to Make Inari Sushi,” I designed and crafted every tiny prop from paper and brought them to life frame by frame in a 30-second animation. I also handled all the Foley sound design, carefully crafting each sound to complement the visual rhythm. This project allowed me to hone my skills in set design, prop-making, precise frame-by-frame timing, and immersive sound design. The result is a delicate, whimsical guide that fuses tactile craft with rich audio storytelling. I’m excited to continue exploring how handcrafted details and sound can elevate short animations.

This 15-second animation was made independently, and was inspired by a remarkable video of bald eagles performing a courtship ritual—locking talons and spiraling from great heights. I dedicated 50 hours to this piece, meticulously crafting each frame to convey the profound beauty and trust between the birds. This project strengthened my skills in frame-by-frame animation, timing, and emotional storytelling. I’m eager to continue using animation to translate the power of nature into evocative, concise visuals.

Role: Director, Animator & Team Lead
Format: 2D–3D Hybrid Animation / Music Video
Date: 1st May - 10th October 2025
Description:
Daddy’s Favourite is a 2D–3D hybrid animated music video that explores themes of identity, power dynamics, and emotional complexity through stylised visual storytelling. As the director and team lead, I guided a small team of three, overseeing the creative direction and ensuring a cohesive vision from concept through to final production.
My role involved storyboarding, visual development, and animation, as well as coordinating workflows between 2D and 3D elements. The project combines expressive 2D animation with 3D components to create depth and atmosphere, using movement, pacing, and visual symbolism to enhance the narrative and emotional tone of the music.
This project highlights my ability to lead collaborative creative work, manage a production pipeline, including storyboarding, animation workflows, and synchronising visuals with audio. I demonstrated skills in integrating multiple mediums into a unified visual experience. It also reflects my broader interest in using animation as a tool for storytelling that is both visually compelling and conceptually driven.

Role: Creator, Writer & Illustrator
Format: Short Comic / Visual Narrative
Date: 13th August - 7th October 2024
Description:
Tsan Di is an original comic project that explores themes of identity, consciousness, and emotional experience through visual storytelling. As the creator, I led the full creative process—from concept development and narrative writing to character design and final illustration.
The project combines traditional and digital techniques to create a distinctive visual language, using symbolism, atmosphere, and pacing to communicate complex internal states beyond dialogue. It reflects my interest in introspective storytelling and the expressive potential of comics as a medium.
Tsan Di also marks an early step in my broader creative direction: using visual storytelling to explore personal, cultural, and social narratives. I’m particularly interested in amplifying underrepresented voices and experiences, and this project helped shape my long-term goal of creating a graphic novel that brings together women’s stories from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities.
