I have 20 years experience in Television broadcasting, over 25 years experience in audio production and have been with the Legislative Assembly for over 9 years. I am a strong communicator and have a natural ability to inspire and motivate those around me. I am very confident that my knowledge base, skill set, and temperament will make me an excellent candidate for the position. I have worked in a variety of roles in the broadcasting field and have a vast knowledge of the workings in a television studio. With Hansard broadcasting I led crews while Directing/Technical directing live broadcasts, delegating stage and technical set up rolls, as well as crew assignments. While with the Hansard Audio team, I became well versed in the SLIQ audio software and travelled with many of the MLAs and have a great working relationship with them. Traveling with committees and acting as team lead on the road, I had to be professional, organized, calm under pressure, great at problem solving and communicating. As an ENG with Chek News I had to conduct interviews and help people feel comfortable with being on air, and I had to be organized and professional asking relevant and interesting questions. As a senior operator with CTV2, I trained many new employees. I work extremely well under pressure and can keep calm and thrive at problem solving. As a band leader, music producer and recording studio owner, I have been responsible for finances and purchasing of equipment, payments of accounts and staffing administration. I worked with Grammy and Juno award winning artists and have had to inspire musicians to get the best performance out of them. During my years coaching/managing Minor sports teams in the community, I have not only been responsible for organizing the coaching staff and practice plans, but also communicating effectively with up to 20 players and their families. I have had to find approaches that work with the different individual’s temperaments. As a worker with children with disabilities I had to discuss strategies and behaviors in a positive manner with families and implement them effectively with the children I was working with. I am excited about this opportunity and know I will be an effective leader and a positive contributor to your team. To formalize my skill set, I have completed Leadership courses online and enrolled in UVIC’s Management Certificate program. I look forward the chance to interview and answer further questions you might have. Thank you for your consideration.
