Work Experience

Software Engineer at Google
August 1, 2024 - Present
Core Team: Developed and deployed a Prober service to monitor search engine health, including infrastructure issues and recall rates at multiple levels. Integrated this tool into the Search and YouTube Search teams. Conducted embedding dimension ablation studies to balance retrieval latency and semantic accuracy. Implemented a KMeans-based sharding solution for indexing large-scale data flows to enable top-N results, supporting major clients (Search, YouTube, Lens, Cloud). Helped unify token-based and embedding-based retrieval systems to improve overall search health and accuracy across the pipeline.
Software Engineer at Google
October 1, 2022 - August 1, 2024
Android Team: Designed and implemented a scalable Autotuning pipeline for hundreds of camera parameters, significantly reducing the codebase by over 90% through integration of the simulator, optimizer, and evaluator with multi-threaded algorithms. Integrated CNN-based semantic segmentation to provide scene awareness, resolving misalignments between raw sensor data and Auto White Balance (AWB). Semantic Mask Alignment: developed advanced segmentation mask alignment algorithms to address misalignments between the camera sensor and AWB BG stats, resolving issues including half-cell irregularities and technical debt. AWB Tuning Tool: led the development of a web-based tuning tool (0→1) using Angular; integrated multiple tuning algorithms, designed an intuitive UI, and resolved cache and compatibility issues.
Software Engineer at Google
October 1, 2021 - October 1, 2022
Search Team: Built multiple ML search algorithms to recommend related images, enhancing user experience and relevance. System Unification: unified cross-team infrastructure for Related Image Search and Lens, streamlining system architecture.
Researcher Intern at University of Utah
June 1, 2021 - September 1, 2021
Leveraged probabilistic machine learning frameworks to infer/estimate model parameters. Used ideas from transformers and dynamic tensor decomposition in predictions, including movie ratings.
Community Contribution Lead at Google (AGN Engagement Team)
January 1, 2022 - Present
Spearheaded the Asian Googler Network (AGN) team, fostering a sense of community by organizing monthly events focusing on social belonging. Collaborated cross-functionally with BGN and HOLA to coordinate larger-scale events, enhancing diversity and inclusion efforts within the organization.
Project Lead at EXPO Project, University of Illinois at Chicago
January 1, 2020 - May 1, 2020
Communication Aid for the Elderly: Developed an elderly communication aid device based on a Raspberry Pi with Wi-Fi and Python-based speech-to-text interface; awarded first place in the EXPO section and judged highest among groups.
Research Assistant at University of Illinois at Chicago
January 1, 2020 - August 1, 2020
Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) for 3D human pose estimation: Developed an end-to-end GCN learning framework in PyTorch to implement a novel 3D pose estimation approach with auxiliary functions such as action classification and pose embedding, including a global node for the skeleton graph and a learned temporal motion model.
