I am Peter Phillips, a Liverpool-born musician and writer now based in London. I started my career at the Empire Theatre as an ASM and soon found myself playing drums in local bands, traveling the world, and exploring recording and production work throughout the 1970s. I’ve spent years touring with diverse groups and contemporary dance theatres, always blending performance with creative collaboration across genres. Since 1990 I’ve run a company in London that delivers music and cultural events, along with a Community Music programme designed to boost wellbeing through creative activity. The programme was recognised by the Guildhall School of Music as part of their Music For Social Impact project. My work with Bode Lawal’s Sakoba Dance Theatre in the 2000s, appearances in BBC Radio projects, and film/TV/stage work, including Pre-Fab! and The Second Woman at the Young Vic, reflect a life engaged with music, theatre, and Liverpool’s musical heritage. I’ve also created Percy Phillips – Adventures With Electricity, about the first recording studio on Liverpool, and in 2018 produced a CD box set and a special vinyl edition with Speakeasy Recordings, premiering at the Liverpool Beatles Convention.
