I have been a video editor for over fifteen years and have worked on a huge variety of projects both in the UK and in Canada. The breadth of my experience includes award winning full length documentaries, broadcast television, short films, commercial, corporate and promo material. I’m known for having a keen sense of story and I take immense pride in my ability to construct narrative with or without a script. I am extremely proud of my career. In 2013 I won an Alberta Motion Picture Industry award for the National Film Board of Canada documentary ‘Legend of A Warrior’. I have had several commercials shortlisted for Cannes Lions and have entertained thousands of people through my work. I have worked with brands such as Discovery+, Sky Sports, History Hit, Universal Pictures, Hugo Boss, National Geographic, Nike, Toyota, Tommy Hilfiger, Lancome, Hyundai, Huawei, Sony, The NFL, Tesco and many many more. On a majority of these projects I contributed to their overall creative development from an early stage. As a senior editor in my previous position, I was responsible for ensuring a smooth production workflow through the entire production and post production process. I have been creatively involved in many unique projects for a variety of digital platforms in which I led from the pre-production stage. I am often in charge of communicating with freelance editors and motion graphic artists as well as leading my own editing team to ensure project completion. I’m not afraid of tight deadlines - I’ve had many of those - and I’m not overwhelmed by heavy workloads. I’ve also always been proactive in researching new technology and equipment that would streamline the production workflow, as well as keeping up with trends to ensure each production is unique and keeping up with emerging trends. I enjoy creative collaboration and believe that I’m always able to clearly communicate my artistic vision in order to help bring ideas to life. I have also been involved in developing and implementing the growth strategy of not only my own department within my current role, but of the entire company. I regard myself as an excellent problem solver, and am able to keep calm in every situation I am presented with. As a line manager in my current position I am responsible for the development and supervision of my team. I’m familiar with nearly every film and video production environment and production workflow. I am fluent in the Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci and Avid edit systems. I am adept in both Google and Microsoft workspaces, and consider my workplace organisational skills to be exceptional. Thank you for taking the time to look at my CV, and I hope to hear from you soon, Ian Thomas Day
