    paper Narrative Short Films (2024)

Film scorer for narrative films exploring distinct tonal, cultural & psychological terrain. Delivered emotionally resonant, genre-sensitive scores across jazz, orchestral, electronic & hybrid palettes, with a strong focus on story & character.

    Projects & Score Approach:
    “Chicken” (Coming-of-age drama)
Subtle yet poignant score blending ukulele motifs with moody ambient textures (synths & transformed field recordings) evoking vulnerability, emotional suppression & the residue of trauma.

    “Fissures” (psychological thriller/magical realism)
Lush orchestral writing combined with unconventional vocal textures—whispers & extended techniques—manipulated to reflect psychological dislocation, cultural tension & fragile identity.

    “Facepaint” (Dark comedy/workplace satire)
Off-kilter cues with absurdist timing, combining jazz grooves, abrasive rock instruments & experimental electronics to support tonal instability & anxiety.

    Roles & Contributions:
❖ Composed original scores tailored to each film’s unique narrative language & directorial vision
❖ Collaborated closely with directors, editors & sound designers—entirely remotely across multiple time zones, using cloud-based & online-meeting tools—to align music with evolving editorial & tonal needs

paper Original Voice (Experimental Horror/Sci-Fi Short)

    Project & Scoring Approach
Scored “Original Voice”, an experimental horror short in which an AI, prompted to create a film, spirals into a sonic hallucination in search of an original artistic voice. The film explores the entanglement of machine consciousness, authorship & sensory overload. The score leans heavily on custom synth textures, processed audio, & experimental sound design—shifting from ominous density to magical transformation in an uncompromising auditory arc.

    Roles & Contributions
❖ Composed & produced the original score, crafting a highly immersive, disorienting sonic language that mirrors the AI’s cognitive fragmentation

❖ Shaped sound-driven narrative arcs that alternately disrupt and support visual logic—foregrounding dissonance, rupture & emotional ambiguity

❖ Delivered the project remotely for a US-based production team while working between South Africa & Russia—maintaining cohesion through fluid communication & structured draft cycles

    Techniques & Tools
❖ Logic Pro for sequencing, sound design & mixdown

❖ Custom synth patching, granular manipulation & audio deconstruction

❖ Cue drafting & delivery via cloud-based collaboration platforms

    Outcomes
❖ Premiered at First Light AI Film Festival (New York, USA)

❖ Recipient of the Honoree Award

❖ Successfully expanded sonic scoring practice—navigating unconventional narrative structures with avant-garde sonic demands
