paper The Cultural Knowledge Revival Programme

This project is a collaboration between two organizations, Design Reparations and Kenge Content Hive. The Cultural Revival Program seeks to research, document, and share the rich cultural and ecological knowledge of the Samia people in the Lake Victoria Basin in Kenya. The project aims to preserve intangible cultural heritage through digital formats such as entertaining visual narratives, publications, exhibitions, information architecture databases, and educational content. It also explores the role of ancestral wisdom in local climate adaptation, giving us an opportunity to borrow wisdom from the past to inform practices that will propel us to a sustainable future. The project aims to generate content that bridges generations, sparks dialogue, and integrates indigenous knowledge into education systems.

Brief: Our role in this project was to provide visual storytelling illustration to develop visual storytelling tactics for making this knowledge accessible, educational and entertaining through the use of illustrations, education comics, and concept designs for publications and exhibitions to spread awareness about the cultural Heritage of the Samia people.

Client: Design Reparations + Kenge Content Hive.

    paper AFRICA MEDIA FESTIVAL 2025

Graphic Recording on Unlocking Global Opportunities: How African Creatives Can Partner with Global Brands.

I had the priviledge of attending my first ever Africa Media Festival on the 26th and 27th of February 2025. To say that it was insightful would be an understatement. I gained so much insight into the world of African media and the disparities and barriers that limit its potential through this year’s theme, ‘‘Bridging Gaps, Connecting Media Futures’’.

As a creative storyteller, I thought it would be fitting to illustrate a graphic recording of one of the workshops I attended that captivated me as an artist, designer and storyteller, ‘‘Unlocking Global Opportunities: How African Creatives Can Partner with Global Brands’’ facilitated by Kofi Dotse.

    paper Tides of Change

This piece is a graphic recording that visually narrates the interconnectedness of ocean health, indigenous wisdom, and human responsibility. It incorporates hand-drawn elements and text to depict the journey of ocean restoration.
The composition follows a flowing wave-like structure, guiding the viewer through key themes:

The Present – The impact of overfishing, pollution, and coral bleaching (shown through visual metaphors like tangled nets, oil spills, and ghostly marine life).

The Future – A hopeful vision of planetary healing, featuring Blue Tribes working together through conservation, marine farming, and regenerative solutions.

This artwork educates and inspires action by making complex issues visually engaging and easy to understand. It transforms sustainability efforts into an accessible story that resonates with diverse audiences.

    Themes: Marine Conservation + Climate Action + SDG 13 + SDG 14 + Sustainability

    paper She Is Africa

I thought it would be great to celebrate and honour African Women on Women’s Day. I made an illustration with words of wisdom for and by African Women.
