The material moved between political tension, myth, and pretty intimate character work, and Barnaby stayed comfortable across all of it. He's good at spotting when something in a scene isn't working and fixing it while preserving my idea in the process. He also has a strong sense of rhythm, in story and in sound, which made him just as useful when I brought him in for composition and sound design. I asked him for a theme for a character that was sort of a femme fatale that was "simultaneously seductive and malevolent"; what he came up with from that nebulous guidance was perfect. It was... "seductive and malevolent". Barnaby was also very patient with my flip-flopping as my vision changed while we were developing the story. I'd recommend him without reservation for narrative or sound work where nuance actually matters. And please ask him about "Sand Cats"... we must never let him live that one down."
