Purpose of Role
As a member of the mobile app team, your role will require you to work alongside a multi-disciplinary team for a native Android app that aims to (visually) reimagine a US national sporting game and its representation of match events and stats.

Key technical competencies
Software Design

• Able to develop and test sophisticated mobile applications using an Object Orientated design approach. Test Driven Design and proven competency in Unit Tests to ensure quality deliverables. The ability to apply knowledge of patterns appropriately in all aspects of software design.

Systems and Services integration

• Experience and understanding with integrating software against SDKs or JSON services provided by the client/s or third party suppliers.

Architecture and Algorithms

• Experience and understanding working with real-time data, managing resources and threads, as well as engineering and implementing data-intense algorithms.

Internationalised development

• An awareness of issues and strategies for handling internationalisation and localisation are required. Understands basic Unicode encodings (UTF-8, UTF-16, UTF-32). Ensures culturally-dependent data (e.g. dates and currencies) appear in formats that conform to end user region and language.

Visual development

• Experience working with visually rich projects, including animations and motion design.

Qualifications and experience

• Proven experience working with Java and/or Kotlin and the Android SDK.
• Strong programming skills, particularly in Java native apps for Android
• Thorough technical knowledge of Android platform
• Demonstrable professional experience in mobile app development, including communicating with web services and REST APIs
• Familiarity with other mobile environments and programming languages will be highly regarded
• A computer science degree (or equivalent experience) is advantageous.
• Professional experience in Source Code Control (Git/ Subversion advantageous)
• Proven experience working as a Senior Android Developer.
• Experience working with Jira / task tracking software
• Experience working with Android Animations and AR Core
• Experience working in a creative and/or agency environment is advantageous
