Social Media Coordinator

The University of Connecticut College of Engineering (CoE) is seeking to hire a part-time Social Media Coordinator (SMC). The SMC is responsible for developing and implementing our School’s social media strategies across multiple platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The SMC will strategize, plan, copywrite and collaborate with staff, faculty, students, and alumni of the CoE to craft, schedule & post compelling online content. Working under the guidance of the CoE Communications Manager, they will carry out publicity and marketing strategies for various events, workshops, and programs to engage alumni, students, faculty, and staff for the CoE.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning and implementing marketing and promotional strategies on social media platforms.
  • Designs, schedules, posts, and analyzes engagement of social media content for four main platforms.
  • Serves as a resource to other department staff regarding effective promotional strategies and problems.
  • Maintains working relationship with members of CoE schools, departments, centers, and institutes to promote coverage of events.
  • Assists with special events designed to draw attention to departmental programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 1-2 years of professional social media marketing experience (examples will be requested) including social media copywriting, digital creative, data analysis, and customer service/client interaction.
  • Experience in the business/company applications of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
  • Experience creating and improving social media campaign strategies.
  • Experience reporting social media metrics and KPIs through detailed analytics reports.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel spreadsheets.
  • Experience planning and implementing marketing and promotional strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of professional social media marketing experience.
  • Experience with content platforms and analytics tools such as Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, WordPress, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Working knowledge & familiarity with graphic design programs (Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva, etc.).
  • Experience working with and promoting higher education programs.
  • Experience working in STEM fields, especially in a marketing or communications role.

Appointment Terms

This is a part-time, 10-15 hours per week, temporary position located at the UConn Storrs campus. Some hybrid remote work will be available subject to authorization and University policy.
