Social Media Freelancer is needed in Folsom, United States.

Location: Folsom, CA
Contract: Temporary, Part-Time
Responsibilities:
- Create a bi-weekly social media editorial calendar.
- Create videos and reels for City of Folsom Facebook and Instagram pages.
- Create engaging, high-quality, and original content including graphics, videos, animations, infographics, and written posts for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to discover new and innovative content ideas that resonate with the community.
- Monitor social media analytics to measure the effectiveness of content and campaigns.
- Foster community engagement by responding to comments, messages, and interactions.
- Produce content highlighting the City of Folsom’s programs, services, personnel, and initiatives.
- Support the development and execution of social media campaigns.
- Coordinate with internal teams to craft and release news stories.
- Contribute to the overall digital strategy, creating photographs, recording videos, and designing graphics.
- Stay updated on trends in the digital world and provide suggestions for improvements.
- Stay informed about social media trends and best practices for content distribution.
- Research and implement relevant hashtags, keywords, and strategies to increase the discoverability of the city’s content.
- Organize, manage, and maintain digital files, ensuring easy accessibility.
- Maintain constant communication with staff and ensure timely updates.
- Assist in other related duties, supporting web and other digital content strategies as needed.
- Assist with the management of day-to-day social media content, drafting and scheduling posts on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and Nextdoor.
- Engage with the public by responding to emails, social media messages, and other types of correspondence.
- Serve as a copywriter and proofreader, ensuring compliance with AP Style guidelines and city writing guidelines.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of:
- Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and NeXTdoor.
- Best practices in social media content writing.
- Basic principles, techniques, and skills in social media writing, design, and content curation.
- Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other tools for creating digital graphics.
- Basic photography, video production, and post-production techniques including software like Adobe Premiere.
- Ability to:
- Respond promptly to public inquiries in a professional manner.
- Develop, design, and produce digital content that resonates with the city’s messaging.
- Coordinate with various internal departments efficiently.
- Stay organized, manage digital files, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Meet strict deadlines and provide timely updates to directors and stakeholders.
- Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience:
- Experience in social media management, content creation, and digital communication is preferred.
- License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain and retain, a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and special events, as needed.
- Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in a typical office environment and may require frequent use of computers, cameras, and other related equipment.
- The employee may be required to lift equipment or supplies, communicate with colleagues and the public, and attend events as necessary.
- Familiarity with digital tools, software, and the ability to stay updated with emerging trends is crucial.
