Job Description

Fresh Films’ year round film program is seeking a Boston Filmmaking Instructor who can engage, guide, and mentor young adults aged 18-25. The program involves creating five different film projects and learning the ins and outs of filmmaking. The ideal candidate should have experience in the film industry and be comfortable teaching various aspects of filmmaking.

  • Produce 3 projects to add to their portfolio with guidance from industry professionals
  • Get certified in Adobe Premiere editing
  • Opportunity to gain IMDb credit by working on-set of a TV or film production
  • Make industry connections through studio tours and speaker sessions
  • Sharpen resume and interview skills for internships and jobs

Requirements

  • Experience in the film industry
  • Comfortable teaching various aspects of filmmaking
  • Knowledge of traditional filmmaking technology and the filmmaking process
  • Ability to instruct young adults aged 18-25
  • Pass a background check
  • Comfortable and confident in working with and mentoring young adults aged 18-29
  • Experience in editing and using editing software (preferred)

Time Commitment & Compensation

  • Dates: February 17, 2024 - June 6, 2024
  • Time Commitment: 5-7 hours/week
  • Additional time required for reviewing student work, prepping for sessions, and answering student questions
  • Mandatory 30 to 45-minute curriculum/program training meeting every Monday at 6:30pm ET or Tuesday 10am ET
  • Instructors are required to attend three 3-hour virtual training sessions in February 2024
  • Exact location of program in the greater Boston area
  • Compensation: $35-$45/hour

Additional Information

  • Program Format: Fresh Films will provide the curriculum for the film production process
  • Tuesday sessions focus on technical skills, filming, editing, guest speakers, and soft skills
  • Thursday sessions include a virtual group lesson on filmmaking fundamentals, followed by individual guidance on projects
  • Part-time position with a pay rate of $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
  • Expected hours: 5-7 per week, with a 4-hour shift from Monday to Friday
  • Work Location: Hybrid remote in Boston, MA
