Job Description:

Under the general direction of the Deputy Communication Director, the Videographer performs senior, highly advanced communications-related work to build the DSHS brand and increase public and stakeholder knowledge and awareness of public health issues. The role involves producing high-quality photography and video for the agency’s internal and external communications and public relations efforts. Responsibilities include researching and preparing information for communication plans, audio/visual material, writing, videography, editing, and production for distribution on social media and digital platforms.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess strategic thinking, excellent interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, and exceptional writing, content, and video development skills. Advanced knowledge of communication strategies, video and photography concepts, computer software, branding, marketing principles, English grammar and usage, stakeholder relations, and media requirements is required. Strong skills in video and photo production, writing, communication, strategic planning, Microsoft Office, problem-solving, and managing multiple projects are essential. The candidate should also have abilities in decision-making, relationship building, public speaking, collaboration, and emotional intelligence.

Other Information:

The position is a grant-funded assignment ending on 7/31/2026. It may entail working extended hours during public health emergencies. The job is full-time and contract-based, with pay ranging from $35.00 to $45.00 per hour. The work location is in Austin, TX 78756, with a hybrid remote setup. Relocation to Austin is required before starting work. Benefits include 401(k), dental insurance, health insurance, and vision insurance. The expected work hours are 40 per week, with occasional weekend work as needed.
