Stop Motion Student Film: A Bug Story

Hello you!. We’re currently looking for a talented composer to create a soundtrack that complements our stop motion student short film, set to be completed in the April 2025. While this is a student project, we value your time and talent and are committed to compensating you for your work. We would love to discuss your rates and find a solution that works for both of us.

Since we are hoping to debut our film at film festival around the world, we can’t share any spoilers of our story just yet. But here is the rundown: in New York City in the 90s, a hopeless romantic Dungbeetle gets dumped by its human girlfriend. We are aiming for a soundtrack that incorporates a recurring motif similar to the emotional depth and storytelling of the opening sequence of Up, with variations throughout. Additionally, we’d like the final sequence to feature a dynamic rock/punk-inspired style to bring an energetic conclusion to the film.

🌟Auditions
If you can share a demo reel showing your range that would be ideal, we are looking forward . Please submit your reels/demos by Dec 13th at 11:59 EST. We will review submissions Dec 14-15th and notify chosen talent by Dec 16th if they have been picked. Please note if you are based in the Greater Toronto Area and are interested with in-person recording.

🌟Recording
Since we are based in the Greater Toronto Area and have access to a recording studio, we would love to do in-person recording sessions. If coming in-studio isn’t possible you can work with us online and send us your files for processing! You will receive the Animatic Dec 16th and be recording Dec 16th to Jan 17th, this is a collaborative process and being open to receiving notes is an asset. Your main contact point will be Rae, our sound lead and our production managers Shay and Venya.

🌟Who are we?
We are a group of 13 animation students based in Canada looking to break into the animation industry. We are passionate about horror, weirdness, and all things stop motion! This film is our year long group project done throughout our third year at Sheridan Animation. Our studio name is 13 Bugs in a Trench Coat, because we are 13 bugs pretending to be human in a trench coat.
