Job Description
The Freelance Broadcast Designer is responsible for the design and execution of broadcast graphics, specifically for live sports telecasts and insert graphics. This role entails the direction of some motion graphics and supporting the broadcast production teams. Collaboration with members of the creative team, production, and sales personnel is crucial. The position requires staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance broadcast coverage effectively.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute broadcast graphics for live sports telecasts.
- Conceptualize and design motion graphics and create insert graphics.
- Collaborate with Directors, Producers, ADs, and PAs to meet graphic requests.
- Maintain communication with various creative teams and production personnel.
- Stay aware of trending graphic design across multiple platforms (print, linear, digital).
- Provide guidance for graphic requests from production and sales personnel.
- Work weekends and evenings as needed.
- Find creative solutions to production challenges and keep up with new technologies in live sports broadcast graphics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, New Media Design, or a related field.
- Sound understanding of software and hardware used to create motion graphics (e.g., Illustrator, Photoshop, AfterEffects).
- Experience or understanding of graphic design and motion graphic design.
