Job Description

The MailOnline is seeking a brilliant hybrid video editor, ideally with an understanding of motion graphics, to help edit new longform shows and produce original series primarily designed for YouTube. This role involves working under the supervision of a showrunner to manage all post-production editing and animation needs, contributing to the production of repeatable, identifiable formats ranging from 8-22 minutes in length. The role is part of a new team tasked with developing a slate of original programming intended to captivate viewers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce original shows that are primarily designed to thrive on YouTube.
  • Edit and enhance videos using industry-standard software and techniques, including editorial-style motion graphics and visual effects.
  • Ensure videos are delivered on time and meet the highest quality standards.
  • Pitch episode ideas and seek to improve the quality of the show continuously.
  • Take an analytical approach to show performance using data to assess which segments are successful.
  • Remain up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in video production and motion design.

Requirements

  • Portfolio showcasing experience in producing and editing videos for YouTube, particularly long-form content.
  • Understanding of motion design principles and experience creating motion graphics and visual effects is preferred.
  • A strong curiosity about YouTube as a platform and storytelling.
  • Knowledge of video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
  • An excellent sense of storytelling and ability to assess pitches.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to give and receive detailed feedback.
  • A willingness to learn from failure and adapt ideas as necessary.
  • Deep understanding of the principles of good journalism.
