Job Description

Responsible for editing video packages which include scripts for special content, politics, breaking news, and special series. This may pertain to important daily news coverage, franchise features, special event coverage, and documentaries. The role involves actively and consistently supporting efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience, transcoding, and converting content for editing, formatting video, and editing special openings as well as voice-overs, sound bites, packages, and shows for air. Creativity and sound news judgment are essential for creating interesting content that meets quality standards.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing established editorial tone and the company/network/program image, ensuring photographic and media quality, conceptualizing story presentations, analyzing subject material, selecting equipment and lighting, and choosing diverse photographic equipment. Assisting in the training of new video editors and using photo software for image modification are also part of this role, alongside editing and enhancing images with special effects and color correction as needed.

Requirements

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro CC
• Ability to quickly troubleshoot technical issues with editing software and equipment
• Ability to read video scopes and audio levels
• Understanding of digital workflows and file-based delivery
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge of operation and office policies and procedures
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, organize, prioritize, make decisions, and work effectively under deadlines

Education:

• High School Diploma
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred

Related Work Experience:

• Experience in news editing 2+ years
• Experience in long form/magazine/documentaries 2+ years
• Experience with Dalet newsroom software preferred

Additional Qualifications:

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed
• Physical ability to push/pull/maneuver equipment up to 50 lbs
• Spanish speaking and national news experience preferred
