Job Title: Temporary Graphics Designer

Reports to: Director of Marketing & Communications

Department: Development

Pay: $35-$40/hr. DOE

Length of Assignment: August 2025 - December 2025 (5 Months)

We are seeking a talented, mission-driven Graphic Designer to join our Development and Marketing team. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, this role plays a key part in visually communicating our work, creating engaging designs that inform, inspire, and mobilize support for racial and economic justice.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Three or more years of experience in professional graphic design, preferably with a creative or marketing agency or equivalent experience.
• Commitment to growing within a dynamic and complex non-profit organization.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in graphic design, art, or related discipline.
• Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects demonstrating creativity, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of design principles.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.), Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.), and other relevant tools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present and explain design concepts and ideas.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take constructive feedback to improve designs while also being self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Demonstrated professionalism and a high level of integrity in all interactions.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to inform decisions.
• Enthusiastic about contributing to a positive and supportive organizational culture.
• Willingness to work irregular hours occasionally and travel (regionally) as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of WordPress and content management systems.
• Working knowledge of CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript.
• Basic photography/videography skills.
• Knowledge of social service nonprofits or a passion for social causes.
• Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities

• Design & Creative Development:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design a wide range of materials, including program collateral, presentations, signage, internal communications, newsletters, and marketing assets.
• Translate complex ideas into visually compelling graphics and layouts for both print and digital platforms, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines.
• Assist with video editing and multimedia content development to support campaigns.
• Fundraising & Marketing Support:
• Design and produce fundraising materials, donor appeals, event collateral, and social media graphics.
• Maintain and share branded materials with fundraising ambassadors to support outreach efforts.
• Asset & Brand Management:
• Maintain an organized digital asset library, including logos, images, templates, and design files.
• Keep communications resource documents up to date for internal use.
• Ensure consistency and integrity of agency branding across all materials.
• Production & Vendor Coordination:
• Coordinate with external vendors (printers, photographers, etc.) to ensure high-quality production and timely delivery.
• Stay informed on design trends, techniques, and software updates to continuously elevate design quality and efficiency.
