Job Description

Up-and-Coming Magazine is seeking freelance graphic designers (1099 Contract – Multiple Openings) to join our creative team. We are a veteran-owned, mission-driven media company focused on amplifying voices in recovery through bold storytelling, print publishing, and community impact. These ongoing remote contract roles will emphasize print advertisement design and magazine layout. We encourage individuals in active recovery and Veterans to apply.

Responsibilities

• Design print advertisements and magazine layouts that align with our brand’s voice and values.
• Develop innovative design concepts for branding, marketing materials, and digital content.
• Collaborate with editors and contributors to visually elevate storytelling.
• Manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
• Stay updated on design trends and emerging tools in print and digital media.
• Maintain a positive attitude and open-minded approach to creative collaboration.

Requirements

• Experience in graphic design or a related field (portfolio required).
• Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Familiarity with layout design for print publications.
• Strong understanding of visual design principles and production processes.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with a remote team.
• Experience in photography, photo manipulation, or motion graphics is a bonus.
• Lived experience in recovery is highly valued.

Additional Information

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $22.55 - $27.16 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 5 per week
