Job Description

Planet 13 seeks a Freelance Graphic Designer to create visually engaging, on-brand designs that support marketing initiatives across digital, print, and social channels. Working from creative briefs and brand guidelines, the designer will deliver high-quality assets that drive customer engagement and maintain brand consistency. The ideal contractor brings a strong portfolio, solid technical skills, and familiarity with visual trends within the retail industry; cannabis experience is a plus.

Scope of Work (Key Responsibilities)

• Produce clear, engaging graphics for digital ads, social media, email, print collateral, presentations, and in-store displays per provided brief.
• Translate brand guidelines into consistent visuals across all marketing touchpoints.
• Review briefs, clarify requirements as needed, and deliver concepts and final files that meet project objectives.
• Contribute to concept development and visual directions aligned with campaign goals.
• Implement feedback and revisions within agreed rounds and timelines.
• Manage multiple assignments concurrently while meeting milestones and delivery dates.
• Collaborate with marketing stakeholders (e.g., copywriters, project leads, other designers) via agreed communication channels.
• Prepare and package deliverables (source files, exports, specs) optimized for target platforms.
• Maintain organized file structures and handoffs according to Planet 13’s asset-management standards.
• Stay current on design trends, formats, and platform best practices relevant to retail and cannabis.

Deliverables & Quality Standards

• Deliverables, formats, dimensions, and technical specs defined in each SOW/brief.
• Work must meet brand guidelines, accessibility/legibility best practices, and platform requirements.
• Final art provided in required editable/source formats (e.g., .AI/.PSD, packaged fonts where licenses permit) and export formats (e.g., PNG, JPG, PDF, MP4).

Collaboration & Communication

• Primary point of contact: designated Creative Project Manager.
• Communication via email/project management tools like Monday.com; meeting attendance only as mutually scheduled.
• Expected response times, review cycles, and approval workflows outlined per project.

Compliance

Contractors remain responsible for their own tax, insurance, and business compliance obligations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated portfolio of multi-channel marketing design (digital, social, print, OOH/in-store).
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and common digital formats; motion/short-form video skills a plus.
• Strong typographic layout, color, and production skills; meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret briefs, manage deadlines, and iterate based on feedback.
• Familiarity with regulated-industry brand considerations preferred (cannabis experience a plus).

Tools/Software

• Contractor supplies and maintains required software licenses.
• Access to brand assets and templates provided by Planet 13 as needed.

Compensation & Invoicing

• Compensation structure (hourly) defined per SOW/brief.
• Contractor invoices Planet 13 according to agreed milestones or monthly; payment terms as specified in the SOW/Master Services Agreement (MSA).
• Contractor is solely responsible for all taxes and withholdings (1099).

Intellectual Property & Confidentiality

• IP ownership and license terms governed by the MSA/SOW. Unless otherwise stated, deliverables are work-made-for-hire or assigned to Planet 13 upon full payment.
• Contractor will protect confidential information and follow any NDA requirements.
