Job Description
The Dedman College of Hospitality is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Graphic Design & Marketing Assistant to join our communications and recruitment team. This OPS position will support the College’s marketing and outreach efforts through compelling visuals, social media content, and print design. The position reports directly to the Director of Marketing & Communications and will work closely with the College’s Senior Recruitment Specialist. The ideal candidate is a fast learner who thrives in a collaborative environment and is excited about using design to inspire, inform, and connect.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Create graphics that adhere to university standards while elevating the college’s unique identity.
- Includes print materials to support recruitment and enrollment efforts (e.g., one-pagers, brochures, signage, viewbook content).
- Create assets for social media, email, web, and digital signage.
- Contribute ideas and develop content that showcase the value of hospitality as a major.
- Help brainstorm and pitch fresh content ideas for student engagement and recruitment.
- Create social media content that highlights student life, alumni success, college events, and campus experiences.
- Assist in concept development and creation of short-form visual content.
- Support promotional initiatives by designing branded merchandise, coordinating orders, and working with vendors.
- Organize/maintain design files, templates, and brand assets for shared use.
- Ensure visual consistency across all platforms and materials.
- Adapt quickly to shifting needs and priorities within a small, dynamic team environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/equivalent.
- Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong sense of layout, typography, and color.
- Knowledge of social media best practices and current trends.
- Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated.
- Detail-oriented with strong creative instincts.
- Knowledge of video editing.
- Experience with print production.
- Experience working with promotional vendors.
Considerations
This is an OPS/temporary job.
Based on the duties, this position may require completion of a criminal history background check.
This is a part-time position that will work up to 20 hours/week.
