Job Description

The Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) is seeking a Sr. UI Designer Developer to create and deliver a world-class digital user experience across desktop, mobile, and applications. The individual in this role will conceptualize, design, and code responsive interfaces aligned with functional specifications and business needs, while driving a design vision for MMS and NEJM Group initiatives through creativity and emerging UI trends. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to transform ideas into intuitive, modern, and user-centered designs is essential.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and code responsive web pages, websites, HTML emails, modals, and application interfaces in alignment with business requirements.
• Create innovative UI design mockups and clickable prototypes, managing design assets and adhering to branding guidelines.
• Develop wireframes, user and process flows, and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas using Figma.
• Implement responsive user interfaces that ensure seamless performance and accessibility across all devices.
• Design and develop HTML emails for various platforms, ensuring thorough testing for rendering compatibility.
• Proactively troubleshoot browser bugs, email client incompatibilities, and script conflicts.
• Manage project tracking and bug reporting in JIRA for efficient workflows and visibility into project status.
• Serve as an in-house design expert and provide mentoring to junior designers/developers.
• Assist in developing, maintaining, and promoting web design standards and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Web Design, Graphic Design, or a related field with a minimum of 6 years of related experience in web design and development.
• In-depth knowledge of internet standards and web browsers, with proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Figma, and validated code in HTML and CSS.
• Advanced experience in user interaction design, web technologies, and visual communication.
• Fluency in front-end web development languages/systems (HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and GitHub); familiarity with JavaScript is a plus.
• Proficient in WordPress CMS development, including themes and working with PHP.
• Ability to translate client objectives and user needs into intuitive user-centered designs.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Experience in user research, usability testing, and iterative design solutions.
• Detail-oriented with proven project management and prioritization skills.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and communication tools in a Mac environment.

Compensation

The target base pay range for this role is between $90,000 and $100,000, commensurate with skills, qualifications, and experience.
