Job Description

News 12 is looking for the right candidate to create graphics and animations for newscasts and other on-air segments. The candidate will utilize programs such as After Effects, VIZrt, and Photoshop to create modern, elegant, and intelligent news graphics for both pre-production, post-production, and live newscasts.

The role involves collaboration with producers, writers, and other designers to develop a variety of newscast graphics, including over-the-shoulder boxes, banners, monitors, maps, and full screen graphics. Additional tasks may include creating promotional elements, weather graphics, and graphics for web and social media, while ensuring the News 12 brand is maintained on air.

Responsibilities

• Independently create graphics to support the newscast, including over-the-shoulder graphics, monitors, maps, banners, and full screen graphics.
• Create opening graphics, promotional elements, and weather graphics for various platforms.
• Assist with set design and create materials for marketing and sales.
• Operate, maintain, and upgrade graphic equipment, software, and computers.
• Contribute to the maintenance of overall station appearance standards.
• Attend planning meetings and organize graphics needed for upcoming assignments.
• Stay informed of current events.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in graphic arts for television preferred.
• Must provide a reel with the application.
• Proficient knowledge of Photoshop is essential; knowledge of VIZrt, After Effects, and Premiere is a plus.
• Demonstrated exceptional artistic ability, thorough knowledge of computer graphics equipment and techniques, and excellent spelling skills are required.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is essential.
• A strong understanding of local communities, issues, and newsmakers is a plus.
• Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Information

The starting pay rate for this position is $42,000.00 - $69,000.00 per year, depending on skills and experience.
