Job Description

The City of Ventura is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer - Extra-Help (Part-time) to support citywide communication and design needs on an as-needed basis. This role requires a strong eye for design and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite to produce creative and professional visual work for public-facing materials. It is a temporary part-time “extra help” at-will position, located at City Hall, with work hours range from 10 to 20 hours per week. Remote work is not approved for this position.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

• Be proficient on the Mac platform using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Have experience producing clean, professional layout and graphic work for publication or online use.
• Work efficiently under supervision while meeting deadlines and design expectations.
• Show attention to typography, hierarchy, color, and brand consistency.
• Demonstrate collaborative communication with internal clients and reviewers.
• Have experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro, CivicPlus, and Microsoft Office products.

Education and Experience: A combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to completion of high school, supplemented by college-level courses or a certificate in graphic design or computer graphics, with proficiency in Adobe design software. A college degree in graphic design is highly desirable.

Required knowledge: Mac Platform, Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop.

Highly Desirable: Experience in Adobe Acrobat Pro, CivicPlus, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
