Job Description

The Freelance Social Media Strategist will support a growing, Midlands-based creative agency by developing high-level, platform-specific social media strategies for their clients. This role emphasizes strategy, insight, and direction rather than hands-on content creation. The strategist will collaborate closely with the Senior Social Media Executive to ensure that strategic recommendations are effectively implemented.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should have:

• Strong strategic understanding of social platforms, consumer behavior, algorithms, and emerging trends.
• Solid experience crafting social media strategies for brands, with an agency background being ideal.
• Confidence in using analytics tools to interpret data and turn insights into actionable recommendations.
• Experience with paid social is highly advantageous.
• Excellent communication and brand messaging skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas into clear direction.

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Develop tailored social media strategies based on each client’s objectives, audiences, and channels.
• Provide strategic frameworks, content pillars, customer journeys, and channel recommendations.
• Utilize analytics, insights, and platform behaviors to inform strategic decisions.
• Identify growth, experimentation, and optimization opportunities across social platforms.
• Collaborate with the Senior Social Media Executive to ensure cohesive content execution.
• Present strategy documentation and rationale to the internal team and occasionally to clients as required.

Remuneration

The role offers a payment of £200–£250 per day, depending on experience. This is a freelance/contract position with ongoing project work, which will require on-site time in the West Midlands for collaboration with the internal team from time to time.
