Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Freelance Video Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of video equipment for events and venues. This includes setting up small projectors and screens, operating video walls for touring artists, and occasionally managing live cameras. The role requires proficiency in video formatting, content management, and the use of industry-standard software and hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Setup and Operation:
- Set up and configure small projectors, screens, and other video equipment as needed.
- Operate video walls for events, ranging from simple logo displays to more complex video content presentations.
- Collaborate with clients, artists, and venue staff to ensure video requirements are met effectively.
- Content Management and Playback:
- Format, load, and manage video content using software such as ProPresenter, Resolume, or similar platforms.
- Ensure all video content meets technical specifications and is ready for playback during events.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Diagnose and resolve basic video equipment issues during events.
- Maintain and update familiarity with the operation of Blackmagic Design switchers and other standard video hardware.
- Perform basic maintenance and check-ups on video equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Live Camera Operations:
- Occasionally operate live broadcast cameras when required, ensuring smooth and high-quality video feeds.
- Communication and Adaptability:
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to understand and execute their vision.
- Adapt to varying event requirements and adjust workflows accordingly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Video Technician or similar role in live event settings.
- Proficiency with ProPresenter, Blackmagic Design switchers, and Resolume (or willingness to learn quickly).
- Strong troubleshooting skills with basic video equipment and software.
- Ability to format and prepare video content for diverse event needs.
- Familiarity with live camera operations and broadcasting (preferred but not mandatory).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry video equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable standing or moving for extended periods during event setups and operations.
Work Environment
- Freelance, event-based work with varying schedules depending on project needs.
