Job Description

The Monmouth Museum is a fast-paced cultural organization with multiple locations, producing exhibitions, educational programs, and community events year-round. We are seeking a freelance graphic designer who can work independently, manage multiple projects at once, and deliver polished work with minimal supervision. This role supports exhibition materials, website graphics, and social media content across both Museum locations. The ideal candidate is confident working remotely but available for occasional onsite meetings or installation support in Lincroft and Dunellen.

Responsibilities

• Design exhibition materials including wall panels, labels, signage, wayfinding, and promotional assets

• Create and update website graphics and pages using Wix

• Design graphics for email campaigns and digital promotions

• Create social media graphics and digital assets

• Adapt existing branding for exhibitions, programs, and multiple locations

• Prepare print-ready and web-ready files

• Manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously

• Propose design solutions when direction is high-level

Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of professional graphic design experience

• Strong portfolio demonstrating exhibit, web, and social media design

• Hands-on experience working in Wix, Constant Contact, and Social Media Platforms

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop required)

• Strong typography, layout, and visual skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal back-and-forth

• Reliable communication and turnaround times

Additional Skills Preferred

• Experience with museums, nonprofits, or cultural organizations

• Experience with exhibition graphics

• Familiarity with email platforms and digital marketing assets

• Ability to lead or assist with art workshops or hands-on creative programs

• Comfort interacting with the public in a museum or educational setting

Hours and Compensation

• Freelance, hourly

• $30–$40/hour, based on experience

• Workload varies by project and exhibition schedule

• Remote work with occasional onsite presence in Lincroft and Dunellen, NJ
