API-Focused Backend Developer Needed for Scalable Remote Project (Node.js) [Urgent]

We are looking for an experienced backend developer to join us on a contract basis to design, build, and maintain clean, high-performance APIs. This is a fully remote role, ideal for someone who enjoys working on well-structured backend systems and values code quality, performance, and security. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining RESTful APIs that power production applications. The focus is on scalability, maintainability, and secure data handling, and you will work closely with frontend developers and product stakeholders during defined overlap hours. Core responsibilities include designing and implementing RESTful APIs using Node.js (Express or NestJS), building efficient database schemas with MongoDB or PostgreSQL, writing well-documented code, optimizing API performance, and ensuring security. Experience with authentication, authorization, and data validation is needed. Skills in TypeScript, Redis, background jobs, AWS, GCP, and CI/CD pipelines are a plus. The contract is ongoing, dependent on performance and project needs. Ownership of backend features and strong communication in a remote team are essential for success in this role.
