"Good-bye, Lord, I'm Going To New York" (2015 book) - looking for a screenplay adaptation from a pub...
Screenwriter is needed in United States.
I am seeking a skilled screenwriter to adapt my 2015 biography, “Good-bye, Lord, I’m Going To New York,” into a movie or TV screenplay. The book details the extraordinary, little-known life of William Harding Jackson, a former Wall Street lawyer, Army and OSS Colonel, CIA deputy director, and National Security Advisor, whose crucial roles in U.S. intelligence were not revealed until decades after his death. This story explores his military service, major contributions to intelligence operations during WWII, and pivotal influence in the shift from military to civilian control in the Intelligence Community. I am the author, with extensive research experience and unique insight into Jackson’s life, and have interest from major studios and publishers. I welcome proposals from experienced screenwriters who can offer thoughtful advice and collaborate on this challenging adaptation. The project is personal to me, and I am open to expert recommendations and potentially further work beyond the initial script.
Budget range:
$3,000 – 5,000 USD

One man, William Harding Jackson, a successful Wall Street lawyer, emerged after Pearl Harbor as a silent hero. He was a Princeton and Harvard Law graduate who joined the Army Air Corps at age 41, oversaw ULTRA intercepts for General Bradley, led G-2 intelligence in the D-Day deception, and frequently briefed Eisenhower and OSS director Donovan. He left as an OSS colonel, battlefield-trained in espionage and counter-intelligence, and later approved Reinhard Gehlen’s ‘Operation Paperclip’ migration to the United States. As the CIA’s deputy director under Bedell Smith, he helped expose KGB double-agent Kim Philby and later served as National Security Advisor. This book examines how the U.S. Intelligence Community shifted from military dominance to civilian control in the early years. Mr. Jackson’s discreet counsel to three U.S. Presidents shows how one man helped redefine the I.C., a legacy his own family did not discover until long after his death.
